CAPS is establishing Alliances for Career Exploration (ACE) with local companies and businesses to provide hands-on learning and mentorship opportunities for CAPS students.

CAPS is a network of public charter schools serving 3,300 students in Paterson, Plainfield and Asbury Park/Neptune, New Jersey. We are closing the achievement gap in academic performance based on our scores on the NJSLA testing. Our students are prepared to excel in college — we have a 100% college acceptance rate from our first two high school graduating classes — but they need to experience opportunities beyond their circumstances to identify their passions and potential for rewarding careers.

To that end, we have launched the Alliances for Career Exploration (ACE) initiative to provide career-focused, hands-on learning and mentoring programs in collaboration with our Alliance partners.

Thanks to Hackensack Meridian Health, we have 21 scholars participating in their Career Explorers program in which CAPS students are matched with mentors in the HMH system to explore careers in healthcare. We recently launched a program with Kula Urban Farms in Asbury Park to introduce students to greenhouse farming and horticulture, and we are working with Liberty Science Center to expand opportunities in science and technology.

To expand and support our Alliances for Career Exploration, we ask that you donate whatever you can. Funds will support transportation, supplies and materials, books and subscriptions and outreach. To donate, Click here to support our Alliances for Career Exploration.
